International Municipal Perspectives

Dear City Manager’s, please don’t forget the value of Sister City partnerships.

My visit to Cadiz, Spain this month allowed me to compare and contrast their City management to the City management of 16 City governments I have served in my home country of America.

I can’t help myself, I hold a Master of Public Administration degree, so I’m devoted to the study of improving local government services, even when on vacation.

Cadiz, Spain is over 3,000 years old. Do you think they have learned anything about providing municipal services to their residents?

Many economists believe international trade makes the world better off. I am not advocating for or against that, but I do believe that trading “ideas” for improving municipal services, even internationally, does make our world a better place.

This is a Sister City program, with some exceptions, can be valuable tool for valuable exchange of ideas for improving the vital public services we provide our residents.

Take a few minutes to watch my video on YouTube. If nothing else, you can enjoy the scenery I’m enjoying in this rather ancient City of Cadiz, Spain.

All for now,
