Take Time to Sharpen Your Saw!

How long have you been sitting at your desk? Or rather, how long have you been sitting at your desk chair?

No matter how busy you are, or how busy you need to appear, nothing that you’re working on at your organization right now, is worth your letting one day pass by without daily exercise.

I love going hiking, biking, walking, jogging, going to the gym, and many other physical activities.

The important thing you need to remember is that there’s no shortage of EXCUSES for not going and getting in the mode that Olivia Newton-John sang about- getting  physical!

I am overweight; I’m working on losing 20 pounds by the time I turn 60 in the next 90 days. Still, being overweight is no reason to not push your body to sweat, exercise, and work out!

Let me hear your body talk!

Olivia, Newton-John: I have been in love with you since I was a teenager, today, I’m in love with you because of everything you did to get us off our butts and to get into physical exercise.

I realize we’re all busy as we start the new year. There’s so many things that we need to work on to make the 2023 year success.

If you’re working in city government, or some other local government, you’re preparing your mid-year budget, you are preparing your budget calendar for the next fiscal year that begins on July 1, and likely you have a myriad of projects that your City Manager and the City Council have tasked your organization with this year.

There are also many NEW projects that the City Council continues to add to the staff (even though they promised they would stick to what was in the adopted spending plan for the current fiscal year).

Anyways, there is NO EXCUSE for not getting your body in the mood, and in the groove to go out there and sweat, exercise, and other physical activity.

So go and sharpen that saw! Get yourself in your best shape in 2023!

I’m so excited to be enjoying this Friday afternoon with another hour-long hike that pushes my body to get in better condition so that, even in my 60s, I can keep my body and my mind sharp enough to serve my City government clients.

Thanks for joining me today on this “outdoors” City Speak podcast. I hope you enjoy this video.

All for now,
